Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about online medical certificates
Last updated: 4 August 2026
Validity & Legality
Are online medical certificates legally valid in Australia?
Yes. Certificates issued through Med2Go are approved by Australian-registered clinicians and are legally valid under the Fair Work Act 2009 and National Employment Standards. They are accepted by employers and educational institutions across Australia.
What happens if my condition changes?
If your condition changes or gets worse, seek an in-person medical review. A certificate doesn't replace the need for further assessment and treatment.
Process & Timing
How long does the process take?
Most applicants complete the form in under 10 minutes. Once submitted, your certificate is typically reviewed and, if approved, is issued within a few hours, though timing can vary depending on clinician availability and your condition.
How do I receive my certificate?
Your certificate is delivered directly to your email address as a PDF. You can forward it to your employer or school.
Do I need to have a previous doctor's record?
No. You do not need a referral or prior medical history with us. Your medical history is obtained through the platform. Simply complete the online health questionnaire and our clinician assesses your eligibility.
Payment & Refunds
How much does a certificate cost?
A 1-day certificate costs $12. A 2-day certificate costs $19. No Medicare card or private health insurance is required.
What if I am not approved?
If a clinician determines a certificate can't be issued, a medical review may be recommended instead. Your payment covers the cost of the clinician's assessment, not the certificate itself. As with an in-person consultation, it's payable regardless of outcome.
Privacy & Security
Is my health information secure?
Yes. All data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We comply with the Australian Privacy Act and only collect information necessary to assess your request. We never sell or share your data.
Who sees my health information?
Only the assigned Australian-registered clinician reviewing your case can access your health questionnaire responses. Only authorised staff have access to medical records.
